LYPBB Challenge Day 26: Call a Friend

LYPBB Challenge Day 26: Call a Friend

Guys, there are only four days left in our challenge! Can you believe it? I cannot; time just flies. I really hope you are all learning to love and embrace your post-baby body a little more each day.

Today’s challenge is to call a friend, or text them. Because let’s face it, if you do have kids, calling other people can be a monumental task. I love talking with my friends, especially other moms because they understand what I am going through. Even though our situations will never be the same, we can empathize with one another. If you have had PPD and find out a friend has had it as well, it can be an instant connection. Or, sometimes your friend can be totally different, but you still have an understanding: you are both moms.

Motherhood is one of the most misunderstood and underrated jobs in the world. There are millions of studies about parenting that contradict one another each day; we’re all really just faking it until we make it and hope that we don’t entirely screw our kids up forever.

Talking with our mom friends honestly about our daily lives can leave a huge impact on one another. Personally, I am not a huge fan of small talk. I like to get down to the nitty-gritty details of life, the things you just can’t control and really need some help with, but do not know where to turn. Those are the conversations I want to have. Not the washed up version of your perfect life. No one has one, and it is okay–if we all had perfect lives, there would be nothing to write about!

So, call a mom friend and vent, talk about your frustrations, talk about your joys and talk about your post-baby body. I can guarantee we all have an issue with our bodies. But, when we let it out, it definitely helps. You will learn you are not alone, along with learning to embrace those changes that have occurred.

Take me as an example. When I am with my friends I talk about how much I hate that my butt jiggles and has insane amounts of cellulite, that my hips are wider, and what the fuck with saggy boobs?! But hey, we all have something we do not absolutely love, and I still love my body– because it is MY body and it made two wonderful babies, and I wouldn’t trade that for the world.
